I hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas.
Life can go by so fast that sometimes it’s good to pause (at least for a short time)...
...as Ferris Beuller said in the film “Ferris Bueller’s day off” - “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while…you could miss it!”
It’s at this time of the year that I like to slow things down a little and look back and reflect on my journey through life over the last 12 months.
It’s not until I really think about it, that I realise how many experiences I have had over 365 days! Some experiences were wonderful, some not so - but there is still a lot I learn from the experiences that weren’t so wonderful.
To help me do this, I ask myself questions looking back over the year and looking forward to the next year and write down the answers.
I encourage you to do the same - this is an opportunity for you to reflect…to celebrate and to remember. It’s a worthwhile investment of your time!
...by the way - it helps to keep a daily journal so that you can more easily look back and see what was going on for you across the year. So, why not start writing a journal today and record what’s going on for you? Record: how you feel; what went well today; what went not so well; what will you do differently tomorrow and any other questions that serve you.
So here we go…get a glass of water…grab a piece of paper and a pen…find a quiet place to sit and reflect with no distractions…read on (and take your time)...
LOOKING BACK OVER 2019:
1. What experiences did you love?
2. What was it about those experiences that meant so much to you?
3. What experiences did you hate?
4. What can you learn from those experiences that you hated that could support you in the future?
5. What challenges did you over-come?
6. What are you most proud of?...and why?
7. What are you most grateful for?...and why?
8. Who inspired you?
9. What do you wish you did less of?
10. What do you wish you did more of?
Feel free to add your own questions - in fact I’d love to hear from you on what questions you have added to this list.
