Your Vision is a statement of what you want to achieve in your life, both personally and professionally. It's important as it serves as a 'signpost' that reminds you of the direction that you want to go, in your life and work.
In this video I’ll walk you through how to create a personal vision statement. Creating a personal vision statement is one of the best ways to find direction in life and work.
Here’s a quick reminder of the Simplify Concept:
When something in your life or work no longer supports you, start by asking yourself: “What will I change?”.
Your Vision is your ‘Direction’ in your life and work. It’s always good to review your Vision - at least annually, to see if any ‘adjustments’ need to be made.
When an aeroplane flies from one Country to another, it does not fly in a straight line – the pilot makes slight direction adjustments during the flight, to follow the flight plan.
Also, if there’s an unexpected storm the pilot will adjust the aeroplane’s direction to avoid the storm.
The aeroplane’s destination is the same, but the flightpath may be different than what was originally expected.
The same applies when thinking about your Vision. Unexpected challenges may crop-up on your journey to make your Vision reality.
The Simplify Concept is a quick way for you to ‘check in’ with your Vision, to see if any adjustment needs to be made. You can do this at any time, but I suggest doing this at least annually.
Follow the steps below to help apply the Simplify Concept to your Vision:
Step 1 – IDENTIFY: Ask yourself “What element of my Vision WILL I change?”.
Step 2 – DECIDE: Decide NOW how things WILL be different.
Step 3 - DO THE ONE THING: Simply commit to one action. It’s important to review the effectiveness of your action. Be mindful that you may need to adjust or change your action depending upon the results you see.
Step 4 – MAKE IT A HABIT: Keep doing what you decide to do. Make reviewing your Vision a habit.
